One room. One painting. Everyone has a hand in it.
A guided two-hour creative experience ending in one original painting made by the whole room.
No art experience required. Actually, it may be better if nobody has any.
This is not your usual painting class
You have no canvas to get right or a sample to reproduce. In Art Unscripted, everyone works on one large shared painting.
I guide the room through a series of simple creative prompts designed to get people making before they have time to decide whether they're “creative.”
Then, you paint, you pass and add to something somebody else started. This is how you get a beautiful, colorful mess and conversations going. It is how a room of curious individuals becomes a group of artists creating one thing together.
The painting is what you see at the end.

HOW IT WORKS
The shared canvas is what makes Art Unscripted different.
Everyone enters at essentially the same level, whether you're someone who paints every weekend or haven't picked up a brush since elementary school.
I provide enough structure to make it easy to start, then gradually loosen it.
Paint
We begin with simple prompts to get everyone making and creative energy flowing. You create your mark.
Pass
Then you move around the table, and your mark becomes someone else's beginning.
Begin again
We build together, and the final painting becomes something none of us could have made alone. The piece that could only have been made by this particular group of people, in this particular room, on this particular day.
What changes in the room
Art Unscripted gives them something to make together.
And making changes the conversation. People put down their phones. The person who arrived announcing, “I have absolutely no artistic talent,” starts experimenting.
People who don't know each other find themselves working on the same section. Curiosity takes over.
For two hours, everyone gets to be somewhere they rarely get to be as adults: a beginner, without embarrassment.

I'm Olga
I spent twenty years studying living systems under microscopes, running experiments and asking why things behave the way they do.
Apparently I never stopped asking.
These days, I'm particularly interested in what happens when adults are given permission to make something without needing to be impressive at it. Atelier Otherwise grew from that curiosity.
My workshops use art, experimentation, natural materials, imperfection and play to make creativity feel accessible again, especially to people who insist they aren't creative. Because usually they are. They've just become very good at editing themselves.
Art Unscripted removes some of that editing.
